The Monash University Low FODMAP Certification Program

The Monash University Low FODMAP Certification Program is the original testing body of foods and products for FODMAPs. It was established in 2014 due to overwhelming consumer demand for low FODMAP products, unsurprising given that irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which a low FODMAP diet is designed to treat, affects 1 in 7 adults. With a low FODMAP Certified label on eligible products, the food industry can help meet this growing consumer demand.

The term FODMAP was invented by our team – the founders of the low FODMAP diet. The original researchers found that following a low FODMAP diet improved symptoms in 75% of people suffering with IBS.

Monash University has developed an ecosystem to help translate our FODMAP research around the world. Products that meet criteria to be labeled as Low FODMAP Certified have these benefits:
